Female Mutilation a Means of Male Power Over Women: UN Rights Chief

GENEVA (Reuters) – Female genital mutilation, the excision of the clitoris practiced widely in African and many Muslim countries, is a means for men to maintain control of women and must be eradicated, U.N. human rights chief Navi Pillay said on Monday.

Even if a current global campaign against the practice – dubbed FGM – continued at its current level of success, it would be 60 years until the total of well over 125 million women and girls now affected was reduced by half, she said.

“FGM is a form of gender-based discrimination and violence. It is a violation of the right (of women and girls) to physical and mental integrity,” Pillay told a gathering on the issue at the world body’s Human Rights Council.

“As many as 30 million girls are at risk of undergoing it over the next decade, if current trends persist.”

The traditional practice, often justified as a means of suppressing a woman’s sexual desire and so preventing “immoral” behavior, “represents a way to exercise control over women,” said the former South African High Court judge.

She was backed at the session by Chantal Campaore, wife of President Blaise Campaore of the West African republic of Burkina Faso, who has been pushing efforts on the continent to persuade communities to abandon it.

The driving factors behind FGM, Mme Campaore said, were “tradition, customs and religion”. Families – in which underage children are the prime victims – went along with it because they feared exclusion if they did not.

The U.N. children’s agency UNICEF says the 125 million plus figure of girls and women applies to the 29 countries with the highest prevalence rates. Many are in precarious health as a result of the operation.

As of last year, according to UNICEF, 98 percent of women and girls in Somalia were victims of FGM – often carried out by other female family members with no medical training. In Guinea the figure was 96 percent and in Egypt 91 percent.

It is also believed to be practiced fairly widely in some immigrant communities in Europe, where many governments have moved to make it a criminal offense.

Campaigners say that the practice is often promoted by local Islamic preachers, although senior Muslim clerics in many countries, including Egypt, have denounced it as against the ethos of the religion.

An Egyptian delegate, speaking for member states of the Arab League, told the U.N. session Arab states were all committed to ending FGM through health drives and by making it a crime. “It has nothing to do with religion,” he declared.

It’s Time to Fight Traditions That Harm Women’s Health – WHO

By Magdalena Mis

December 22, 2014

LONDON (Thomson Reuters Foundation) – Some of the major health problems faced by women in developing countries are caused by “terrible” traditions that must be stopped, said the head of public health at the World Health Organization (WHO).

Traditions such as child marriage or female genital mutilation (FGM), widely practiced in some communities, contribute to high maternal mortality rates in some poor countries where girls as young as 13 get married and give birth.

Tackling traditions that can be detrimental to health and backing those changes by legislation are essential to protecting women and girls, Maria Neira told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

“A tradition that forces a girl to get married at 13 is a bad tradition,” Neira said on the sidelines of a London event on maternal mortality and access to water and sanitation. “It’s time to fight all of those traditions.”

Customs like child marriage mean that teenage girls get pregnant and give birth, often before their bodies are ready, and often in clinics without basic facilities like clean water or toilets.

Nearly 16 million adolescent girls give birth every year and at least 70,000 girls die each year due to pregnancy and childbirth complications, according to UNICEF.

Although maternal mortality worldwide has dropped by 50% in the last two decades, 289,000 women died from complications related to pregnancy and childbirth in 2013, the majority of them in developing countries, according to WHO.

Education is key to giving women a voice and empowering them to speak up for their rights, said Neira. “As soon as (women) get a minimum of education, their voice is stronger,” she said.

It’s also the role of global institutions, including WHO, to help women fight for their rights, she said.

“We need to focus on women because they don’t have yet the power to fight for themselves. We need to empower them.”

Health Alert Update! Proof International Big Pharma Killing American Citizens

America, please read the below article it’s imperative to you and your family’s health and life!

Many of us have been trying to warn all American Citizens of what’s been occurring behind closed doors in American Healthcare Industry that’s costing human lives! The Federal Government,State and Local Congressmen and their agencies are allowing Americas “International Big Pharma Corporations,” to continually impact lives. See for yourself how lives our being impacted.

As the owner of CABIRI, I started seeking out my own healthcare industry answers, calling, emailing, and researching! I’ve been fighting the past 3yrs. to find my own answers of What, How, Who, Where and Why, I suddenly became medically deathly ill,  undiagnosed, and homeless. Again, as I’ve stressed time and time and agian in my articles, after 6 surgeries and 14 hospitals no “Doctor or Hospital” could seem to tell me how or why I had a “Foreign object” in my body that attacked my internal organs.

“America, for you and your family’s sake,” I suggest if you don’t want to be in this predicament, please read the below articles to save your own life! “This is No Joke,” and is “Very Real!” We are not wasting our time or breath, such as myself! There’s truth behind these, “published healthcare alert articles,” you must be aware of, and please realize although I’m dealing with my own medical issue’s, I’ve found the time to alert the public via my social media startup, about the dangers looming in Americas healthcare industry that can cost you your life.

In finding hidden under-handed business patterns and practices, my research also branches out into other market industry’s. I now have vast knowledge of, “who they are, what  they are doing, and how they are doing it,” so it’s fairly easy for me to pick up on their sneaky trends. Although, it’s frustrating to know information and can’t do anything about it, and if you tell your leaders about it they just ignore you like you don’t exist!  In fact I’m 99% sure my free market research, website, blogs and published articles has helped the “Obama Administration” and many other agencies, organizations and the American people.  The disturbing patterns in my research was sent directly to the “White House” so “Mr. Obama” and his team could review too protect our country.

America, when human lives are in danger you must “Speak Up,” if not how are you human? If you don’t speak up, and you know you could of saved a life, how can you live with yourself knowing this?!” So those of you that know about any of this, please don’t be bashful, and speak up!  We have to protect one another, especially women, we are being attacked on all levels including your baby’s, so please be aware of medical devices, products, procedures, etc., keep yourself updated at all times.

Dec 18, 2014 — Members of the FBI, attorneys general and members of the DOJ,

Many hundreds of women have died prematurely or unnecessarily using a medical device known as a power morcellator.

For details please read the following article (and associated links) in the WSJ by Mr. Jon Kamp and his colleagues on yesterday’s front page:

These wrongful deaths have been the result of a very serious violation of the Code of Federal Regulation, Title 21, Section 803 on the part of several notable medical device manufacturers (notably including Johnson and Johnson and Karl Storz GmbH):

These manufacturers were fully aware of the deadly hazard posed by their devices as early as 2006, but failed to report the adverse events to FDA to protect the public, as required by Title 21, Section 803 of the CFR:

As a result, many women have died prematurely or unnecessarily because of this egregious violation of the Code of Federal Regulation. It is now your very serious duty to investigate this grave corporate wrong-doing and bring this deadly violation of the Code of Federal regulation to justice.

I ask that you act with resolve and consistent with your duty to the American public as officers in our system of justice. We await an opportunity to expose this corporate wrong-doing to our system of justice for judgement so as to prevent anything like it from ever devastating another family in the United States.

We ask that you look at this issue immediately and with care. Accepting reckless and criminal conduct by major corporations is not an option you can accept.

Very Sincerely,

The Food and Drug Administration’s warning last month was unusual: Doctors shouldn’t use a common surgical tool on most women because it can spread hidden uterine cancer. A year earlier, the FDA had no official…

Should you take your doctors advice at face value

Do your own medical research it may save your life

Women’s lives are being severely impacted by questionable practices in the U.S. Healthcare Industry! Of course, as usual the powers at be are allowing it to happen. If your life has been impacted medically, and you call any Federal, State or local healthcare agency all you will hear is, “Oh were sorry, that happened to you! Or they will run you around from Federal, down to the State level, which in return will refer you to the local level. “All is a waste of time” you will get no where. This means if you are a U.S. citizen and have paid taxes over 30yrs. it doesn’t mean a thing in America. You are on are own people you will get no help or sympathy. So the next best thing is to stand up for yourself and others, to alert them of what’s occurring in the U.S. healthcare industry.

In my personal experience, 14 hospitals and hundreds of doctors surprisingly never saw my type of Reproductive Health issue’s, which is scary in this day and age! I live daily with life-threatening undiagnosed medical problems all due to a medical-device the FDA approved as being safe for the human body. My internal organs were attacked, and not one doctor could figure out why I’ve been medically ill for the past 3yrs., or what’s has caused my problems. So please do your own research you may be able to solve your own medical problems! Please do not always take “Medical Professionals” advice at face value. It may cost your life, be mindful money is powerful!

The FDA, U.S. International Big Pharma Leaders, Physicians, Lawyers, and the U.S. Supreme Court should be held accountable for causing deaths, impacting bodily organs which could cause a death or alter a life, forcing a human being to live with reoccurring medical problems. How can we allow other human beings with a “job” impact our lives and allow them to get away with it? A professional status in a “Job Title” does not give you the right to, “Kill innocent people!”

All lives must be protected against “Questionable” Drugs, Products, Procedures, and other people killing and impacting human lives. How can the FDA have the audacity to say “OOPS” we made a mistake and were sorry, we overlooked some things and we shouldn’t approved this product! Are you kidding me, these are other human beings with jobs at a Federal Agency’s who are supposed to be professional and ensure the safety of all U.S. citizens. We all have our lives in these people hands. Shouldn’t they be more careful?

“In my instance,” myself and a colleague Dr. Hooman Noorchashm, wife who has stage 4 cancer, our lives have been turned upside down, due to “Questionable” medical devices and practices approved by International Big Pharma leaders & their U.S. FDA friends. CABIRI,  was formed due to the impact the health industry has had on my life.  I’ve been researching and advocating for 3 years my life matters and I won’t allow the FDA or Doctors to kill me or the next human being. It’s our “Right To Life” and I refuse to allow them to take that away from people. We are only on earth one time! Hopefully, our the appointed Surgeon General will help change things in the U.S. Healthcare industry.

Finally, after numerous complaints of “Republicans” blocking crucial Federal appointee’s, such as the U.S. Surgeon General, we now have one a great victory for U.S. citizens. Although, let’s hope the new “Surgeon General” will be dedicated to saving human lives. It would also be interesting to know, if the new U.S. Surgeon General “Home country” owns one of the ‘Top 10 Pharmaceutical Corporations in America’ this would be quiet contradictory, although currently the U.S. is now collaborating openly with other international countries in healthcare research. This also could be the reasoning behind the abundance of, “clinical trial studies” popping up all over the place. Do U.S. citizens really want to be used as “Medical Experiments” for man made drugs, products, and procedures?

Regardless of all the above factors there’s lots of work to do pertaining to the U.S. healthcare industry and everything involved with the industry. Obamacare, is just the start of fixing what’s broken, now it’s time to work on the healthcare industry itself, which needs a complete over-haul. The direct problems we are facing are associated with greed, money, power and broken policies and procedures, it’s not about saving human lives.
