The National Association of Manufacturers is known for taking brave stands: When Congress tried to take action to stop the trade in blood diamonds, they sued, claiming the free speech of their members was being trampled on. They’ve opposed everything from disclosure of big money donors to campaigns to action on climate change.
Yesterday, they announced they will support the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
The White House may be wondering, “With friends like these, who needs enemies?”
The fight against the TPP isn’t over. It still needs a majority vote to pass and that is proving harder than folks like NAM thought it would be.
We need your help to keep the pressure on. The TPP will raise drug prices, putting life saving cures out of the reach of many. It will block labor and environmental laws. Your town could be sued in a kangaroo court where the corporations are judge and jury.
Campaign for America’s Future has directed tens of thousands of calls to wavering legislators. We’ve helped collect millions of signatures. We’re not giving up, and neither should you.
